In support of our ongoing endeavour to continually improve our rugby offering in the local community, Nathan Hand, senior club member, player and current U12s coach, is taking on an ultra-running challenge. Starting on Sunday February 7th, Nathan is attempting to run 7 half marathons in 7 consecutive days. Following on from the recent fundraising success of Tom Manson’s 180k cycling event, Nathan is undertaking this challenge to help raise funds for the design and installation of disabled facilities at our club house.
Nathan has been training for the event over the past 4 weeks and has racked up over 300k this year already. His routes will start and end at the club house and take him on a tour around Corby. Already a keen runner, he wanted to put his effort into helping a good cause and use it to make a make difference to the local community.
Nathan said, “Covering 21.1k 7 days in a row is going to be tough. We are off to a great start with sponsors so far, and every pound we raise towards improving the accessibility of our club house will make the hard work well worth it, so bring it on!”
Club Head Coach, Tom Cleary added, “What a fantastic challenge Nathan is undertaking and all for a fantastic cause to take us closer to our goal of having an extension built to facilitate a disability lift and disabled toilets. Our club has the motto ‘One club, Our Club’ and Nathan’s 7 half marathons in 7 day challenge embodies this. A selfless challenge to hopefully give access to all who want to visit our club in the future. It is something Nathan is very passionate about and I’m looking forward to supporting him throughout this challenge in any way I can and hope all of our members can jump on this also. Let’s show our #oneclubourclub support.”
