Never in my 40 years association with the club have I ever seen the doors of Stewarts and Lloyds Rugby Club be nailed shut and a pint not to be pulled.

Following tonight’s proclamation from the Prime Minister that ALL pubs club, restaurants etc. will be closed by midnight tonight, it is my unenvious duty to inform you that as of 17.30 hrs tonight the club cannot operate under any guise until further notice. This is an unprecedented situation which is beyond the clubs control.

As Corby’s senior community club we fully understand we have a social responsibility to help keep our club members and the peoples of Corby safe from this unscrupulous virus.

The clubs senior committee members and Trustees will meet tomorrow to discuss our business continuity plan to try and secure the longevity of the club. There are obvious financial concerns and a number of government financial options to explore.

Mr Johnson believes he has the support of the nation I KNOW I have the support of all of you; our dedicated club members, friends, sponsors and the good people of Corby.

Never has our club motto been more prevalent:

One Club – Our Club

Be safe, be healthy and look for our updates as time and circumstance dictates.
