S&L U13s: Sportsmanship and Skill

Rugby at its finest: Helping out our hosts and playing with total class!

The U13s made the trip to Bugbrooke on Sunday and showed exactly what S&L rugby is all about. With the hosts missing a few players, several of our boys stepped up to wear the Bugbrooke shirt, ensuring the match could go ahead and everyone got maximum game time.

On the pitch, S&L were clinical. A very strong start saw the ball handling reach a new level of precision, with support players always on hand to keep the momentum alive. The scrum provided a rock-solid platform, allowing the backs to experiment with new moves and players to test themselves in unfamiliar positions. It was a highly constructive day of development, capped off by an 11-1 victory.

  • Final Score: Bugbrooke 1 - 11 S&L U13s

  • Try Scorers: Cam (3), Jaq (2), Patrik (2), George, Jacob, Harry, Bradley.

  • Player of the Match: Harry

S&L U12s: The Offload Kings

Strength in numbers and power in the carry! The U12s are on fire!

The U12s continue their upward trajectory this season with a comprehensive 11-2 victory away at Bourne. The team is visibly growing stronger with every fixture, and today the ball handling was absolutely "on point." The most pleasing aspect for the coaches was the superb support play, which allowed for fluid offloads that left the defense scrambling.

A huge part of the success came down to the powerful running of Braelyn and Kristofer, who seemed to gain significant ground with every single carry, accounting for six of the team's tries between them. It was a complete team performance that showed how much this group has jelled since the start of the season.

  • Final Score: Bourne 2 - 11 S&L U12s

  • Try Scorers: Braelyn (3), Kristofer (3), JJ, Harley, Hayden, Jenson, Nathan.

  • Captain & Player of the Match: Braelyn

S&L U11s: Resilience in Bourne

Seven players, two wins, and zero excuses. Incredible shift, U11s!

The U11s traveled to Bourne with a lean squad of just seven players, but what they lacked in numbers, they more than made up for in heart. The morning was a "full-on tussle" from start to finish, and while the intensity got "spicy" at times, the S&L boys kept their heads and remained focused on the job at hand.

Their discipline in the rucks and ferocious tackling kept a determined Bourne side at bay. Combined with some powerful direct running and selfless passing, the U11s secured two fantastic wins. It was a morning that proved that when you play as a cohesive unit, you can overcome any numbers disadvantage.

  • Game 1: S&L 5 - 1 Win

  • Game 2: S&L 6 - 3 Win

  • Try Scorers: George (4), Charlie (3), Jamie, Dylan.

S&L U10s: The Defensive Wall

Five periods of pure effort! Our U10s took on the challenge and stood tall.

Our U10s faced a unique challenge at Bourne, playing a marathon match split into five 10-minute periods. While S&L worked with a dedicated squad of 11, the opposition was able to bring on a fresh rotation of players every period. Despite the mounting fatigue, our players showed incredible fitness and resolve.

The team adapted brilliantly to the flow of the game, utilizing "power runners" like Finn and Kieran to break through the initial lines before shipping the ball out wide for some superb team tries. Although the final result was a narrow 10-9 loss, the defensive effort in the final 20 minutes—against fresh legs—was arguably the best the coaches have seen all season.

  • Final Score: Bourne 10 - 9 S&L U10s

  • Try Scorers: Alex (4), Amelia (2), Willow, Jenson, Uri.

  • Player of the Match: The entire team for a monumental defensive performance.

S&L U9s: Teamwork and Toughness

Knocks, tackles, and tries! The U9s showed the true meaning of commitment.

The U9s were in exceptional form away at Deepings, securing two hard-fought victories. This was a match defined by physicality; every player on the pitch contributed to a massive tackle count, showing no fear against a very well-drilled opposition.

What stood out most was the team's commitment to one another. Despite several players taking hard knocks, the likes of Keaton, Blake, Bobby, and Matthew all showed incredible spirit to rejoin the match and support their teammates. It was a day where the "dream work" truly came from the "teamwork," resulting in a high-scoring and thrilling morning of rugby.

  • Game 1: S&L 9 - 8 Deepings

  • Game 2: S&L 8 - 6 Deepings

  • Try Scorers: Blake (7), Jack (7), Jax (2), Matthew (1).

  • Player of the Match: Keaton for his incredible bravery and resilience.
