Under 9s: Dominant Victory and True Sportsmanship

The Under 9s had a brilliant trip away to Rugby St Andrews, securing a decisive 54-26 victory! The team played as a fantastic unit, welcoming two new players, Matthew and Jax, both of whom played great. The defensive effort was noted as being on point throughout the match.

A huge welcome and congratulations to Matthew on his first match, which included scoring his first-ever try! Even more impressively, Matthew was awarded Player of the Match not only for his dedication and tackling but also for his true sportsmanship—he sat with an injured player from the opposition to make sure they were okay. Well done, Matthew!

Under 10s: Rucking Excellence in Close Contests

The Under 10s faced tough opposition in Rugby St. Andrews, battling hard in two extremely close games. While the team narrowly lost both contests (7-8 and 5-6), their performance had plenty of positives!

Coaches highlighted great rucking again, alongside good running and strong support play, ensuring that everyone on the team had a turn with the ball. Willow was named Player of the Match for their efforts!

Try Scorers: Josh, Finn, Athos, Willow, Jenson, Keiran, Alex, and Amelia.

The team will be focusing on moving tackles and improving their attacking and defence lines in training this week.

Under 11s: Dominant Force After Slow Start

The Under 11s had a competitive day against Rugby St Andrews/Lions, with the results evening out to 2-2 games for the afternoon.

After a slow start in the first game, the team found their gear and turned the performance around to become a dominant force. They showed formidable attack with strong, straight runs and excellent work securing the ball in the rucks. A great team effort allowed them to create multiple opportunities, leading to an impressive 15 tries!

Try Scorers: George (9), Dylan (3), Jamie (2), and Ebz (1).

Despite the unfortunate early ankle injury to Charlie (get well soon!), the team pulled together to deliver a much-improved performance from the previous week. The focus for upcoming training will be on committing more fully to tackles.

Under 12s: Best Performance of the Season Secures Win!

The Under 12s put in what was hailed as their best performance of the season so far on the road against Rugby St. Andrews, securing a brilliant 7-3 victory!

Facing a numbers challenge, S&L played with eight players and were kindly lent four from Rugby St. Andrews. Every player on the pitch delivered a fantastic performance. The S&L effort was marked by superb rucking, strong support play, and some excellent tackles, alongside amazing individual runs.

Kristopher was named Player of the Match after crossing the line an impressive three times! Jenson and JJ were also highlighted as the biggest stand-out players on the day for their influential performances.

Try Scorers: Kristopher (3), Hayden (1), Harley (1), plus two tries from the generous Rugby St. Andrews players who helped out the team.

Under 13s: Valuable Lessons Learned

The Under 13s had a tough day at the office against a strong Huntingdon side, falling 10-0. Huntingdon executed well, with a few strong runners and a talented backline that created opportunities.

Although S&L were beaten, the players tried their best against capable opposition. The focus is now on training, where the squad will be working hard to plug the holes in defence and continue their development. Rio was deservedly named Player of the Match for his dedicated performance.
