U11s

The U11s travelled to Market Harborough this Sunday with a strong side that had been training hard over the past two weeks and hungry for some match time. Captained by Ashton, the boys got off to a flying start, scoring 5 tries in the first half. Going uphill and into the wind in the second half, the boys continued to play well and some fine team work and agressive defending kept Market Harborough at bay and the match finised 5-3 to S&L.

The boys took this form into the second match and were unlucky not to come away with a win, with that game ending tied at 4 tries each. There was some great rugby played by both sides, in what was a fun and exciting match. Try scorers; Ashton (4), Kai (2), Rocco (2), Ethan. Player of the Match; Rocco

U12s

On Sunday, the U12s took the short journey to Uppingham to play in a 4-way fixture with Stoneygate, Market Harborough and Lincoln. With the sun shining and a lack of puddles on the pitch, it was great to get some good rugby conditions and the teams all played some great rugby.

Our boys played 4 games against Lincoln (x2), Market Harborough and Stoneygate (1 each), winning two, drawing one and losing the last against a strong Stoneygate team.

All sides played in a fantastic spirit and the lads put a good show on.

U14s

After a few weeks off, the under 14's traveled down to Luton last weekend and in spite of a few unavailabilities and traffic issues on the way down, put in a very valiant effort against a side who have comfortably made their way to the East Midland U14' s Cup Final.

After conceding a few early scores due to some individual errors, the S&L side worked their way into the game and for much of the remainder of the half the game was a real contest. With the visitors able to hold Luton at bay, for the most part, with some excellent defensive efforts from skipper Rhys Cook, stand in centre come back row Chris Drew and his centre partner Morgan Graham.  Another major positive on the day was the S&L set piece where the front five remained solid in the scrum throughout and the forwards were able to manage possession well off the line out.

With territory and possession in the visitors favor the home side's discipline started to crack and following a few surges towards the line Reece Forsdike was able to get through a gap and put some well-deserved points on the board for the visitors.  Ethan Cook added the extras to put the visitors within a couple of scores.  Soon after, following some good work at the line out Rhys Cook made a break through the line to take the visitors down into the 22 and following several phases of play and some excellent ball retention from the backs and forwards alike, the visitors just couldn't quite get the ball over the line and possession was turned over to the home team who quickly fed the ball out to their winger, who scored an excellent solo effort to finish the half.

With the elements against them in the second half, the territory that the visitors enjoyed in the 1st half was much harder to come by, meaning much of the second half was spent defending and trying to run from deep.  The home side managed to run in a few more scores in the second half to take the score away from S&L but most pleasing for the coaches would be the 110% effort the players put in down to the final whistle.

Final Score - 45-7
