This Sunday the U15s welcomed Leicester Forest to Occupation Road. After two close games last season, another thrilling game was contested between two very evenly matched sides.
Playing with the hill in the first half, Forest started strongly and took an early lead through their quick winger. S&L bounced back with a converted score and then two further scores from Forest, split by a well taken lineout move from S&L, left it at 19-12 to Forest at half-time.
S&L used the conditions well at the start of the second half and with two converted scores took the lead, 26-19. A further unconverted score left S&L with a decent 31-19 lead with 10 minutes left to play. Forest were not to be outdone however as they battled back hard, helped by some unfortunately misplaced passes by S&L and with 5 minutes to go it was 31-24. Some further errors, when deep in Forest territory lead to a fantastic breakaway try with some superb handling, leaving the game delicately balanced at 31-29 with 3 minutes left. From the kick off, Forest claimed the ball and through some strong carriers scored again to take the lead 31-36 with a mere 30 seconds left! S&L won a turnover with the time run out and tried one last time to score, however a great rip from the Forest centre led to the end of the game.
A brilliantly fought game which ebbed and flowed throughout. Player of the match Ben scored 4 tries, with one from Sol. 3 conversions from Grayson.
This coming Friday, the team host local friends Wellingborough for a game under lights! Kick off is at 7.30pm so come along and show your support! Bar will be open from 6.30pm.
