Last weekend we had the pleasure of welcoming the new 1stXV coach, Tom Cleary, to assist with the launch of the the new season in the mini and junior section. During the morning he spent some time with each year group and introduced them to some fun new drills.

Tom brings with him a wealth of experience in coaching, having done his rounds as a player, personal trainer, schools rugby coach and saints community coach. Both he and the existing 1st XV coach, Kev Manson, along with myself, hope to bridge the gap between the senior rugby and mini / junior rugby at the club. We hope to achieve this over the coming season through external CPD sessions, workshops and clinics where the mini / junior coaches can learn and adopt the coaching ethos from the senior club and filter that down into the younger years. This will ensure that every coach and player feels supported by the whole club and come the end of the season each player is more than ready to make the next step up through the age grades.

We will also be looking for seniors players to get involved on a Sunday morning at every available opportunity to support what is a vital section of the club.
