Sunday saw the U16s have their first home game of the season with Long Buckby Badgers the visitors. It also saw the first signs of autumn as a chilly morning greeted the team!
After a couple of close losses to start the season, the team were chomping at the bit to get off to a good start. After a strong opening few minutes, playing up the slope, the game had to be stopped for 20 minutes due to an injury to an opposition player. Fortunately, after a trip to A&E, we can confirm that the young man is ok and on the mend. The game restarted and the half continued with good pressure being applied by S&L, finishing 21-7 at the break.
S&L used the hill well in the second half and the increased numbers, coupled with effective use of the ball to identify space, they started to break down a stubborn Long Buckby defence and ran in a further 6 tries, with 4 conversions. Long Buckby hit back with a couple of their own.
Final score 59-21.
Tries from Jack (2), Jaiden (2), Ben, Dylan, Rhys, Zak and Rhys (yes we have two).
Conversions from Grayson (5), Harvey and Zak.
POTM was Jack.
A much improved performance with a number of stand out performances!
