Syston - 29
S&L Under 14s - 5
The u14s travelled to Syston last Sunday where they were looking to improve on the previous weeks narrow loss. S&L started the game very well and were making good ground through the backs and forwards and their defence was able to hold Syston at bay. After some positive play through the forwards and a very dominant scrummage, Reece Turney was able to break out of a couple of tackles and go over to score. Syston however, fought back to score 2 trys before the end of the half as the cracks started to appear in the visitors defence. S&L started the second half strongly but lost some impotece up front as charasmatic Harvey Blair was forced off through injury and were not able to breach the home defence. As the half went on the pressure of chasing the game was evident as poor discipline, unforced errors and missed tackles allowed Syston to run away with the fixture towards the end of the half. Notable mentions this week go to the front row (Ross Millard, Reece Forsdike & Ethan Cook) for an impressive scrum display throughout. Coach Mark Williams was happy with the performance overall.."We played well in the first half but credit to the opposition they had some really good players and played better than us on the day. We will look forward to our first home game in a few weeks!"
