The Minis travelled the short distance to local rivals Kettering to take part in their Festival this past Sunday. Despite the weather they didn't let it spoil their day. See below for their coaches reports.
Under 7s
On Sunday morning our under 7s took part in the Kettering festival, in weather condions more suited to water sports. The boys played really well winning all their matches with some really good rugby being played. Our player of the week was Jack Connor, showing his dad how to tackle even though it’s only tag!
Under 9s
Under 10s
On Sunday morning our under 10s took part in the Kettering festival. With the rain making the pitches heavy we started slowly. Once they were used to the conditions, we started to play some rugby with some good tackles going in and some good phases of pla. We started to get into the game with a narrow loss to the hosts with Harry Wileman scoring 2 try’s and Maxim scoring 1 as well. Our player of the week was Harry Wileman.
Under 11s
A very wet and muddy Kettering Festival didn’t stop the U11s from playing some impressive rugby. A try in the opener from Kai Manson saw the boys take the lead. They battled hard to stay ahead, only for Stamford to equalise late on to draw the match. Next up was Wellingborough, where S&L found themselves 4 tries down at half time. After a regroup at the break, the boys took to the second half determined to make a comeback. A debut try and a player of the match performance from Tobi Salau, plus two tries from Manson helped put the boys back on track. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t enough time for the comeback and the match ended 4-3 to Wellingborough. S&L continued their good form into their final game, and comfortably won 2 tries to nil against Towcester. Overall, despite the weather conditions, team spirit was high and the boys thoroughly enjoyed a day of rugby.
