Good evening everyone, I hope you and your families are safe and well.
Within every war, conflict or pandemic, history tells us that there is a pinnacle point where the tide turns and the advantage shifts. With the vaccine roll out thankfully improving every day, hopefully and finally, it is advantage us! The Club executive committee are now moving their focus from business continuity to recovery and development. The change in landscape brings a new set of challenges, the biggest of which being player and community re-engagement. Our membership and the local community (including CBC Local Authority) have been nothing short of fantastic in their supportive efforts from day one. It is those efforts (the Corby way) which has kept our beloved club with its head above water and financially secure. I thank you one and all.
The Club was awaiting happier times but I think it is prudent as a positive incentive to help all of our members, sponsors and the local community in getting over this last hurdle in that we announce our intentions in giving back what will become a legacy for a long time to come. The club is proud to announce that first draught drawings have been completed, outlining the proposed Club extension.
The extension will provide a disabled lift and disabled toilet facilities so that the club becomes totally and truly accessible to the whole community. This is a huge undertaking for the club with a 50K price tag!
We are fully aware of the economic climate and the possible hard times that lay ahead but we believe with the right fiscal planning and the support of the membership, we will grow with the economy over the next 3 year period. I cannot emphasise enough how important membership engagement, inventive fundraising and pure dogged effort will be required to make this a successful venture.
Back in September, Tom Manson and his cycling buddies kicked off the fund raising efforts by completing a 180km bike challenge from Corby to Cromer raising a fantastic £4K! So may I now bring your attention to our second fund raiser Nathan Hand, who will be completing 7 half marathons in 7 days starting 7th February. Look out for information on his challenge here on the website and our social media channels from tomorrow.
These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and we are very grateful they are choosing to support the club in their endevours.
