On Friday, Nathan & Alden attended the Spirit of Corby Awards and were awarded with the Club Spirit Award!
This award has been truly earned by the pair who have been putting themselves through multiple challenges in order to raise money for the Club. Using their time, energy and pushing themselves to the limit for the sake of ensuring the Club and its members have an accessible clubhouse for all to enjoy. Nathan & Alden embody the Club Spirit Award.
We had a quick chat with them both after their win.
Congratulations Lads. We’re really proud of both of your efforts and know you truly deserve the award.
How do you feel after winning the award?
Nathan: Firstly we’d like to thank everyone for voting for us but more importantly everyone who has donated to our fundraisers over the years. I feel incredibly honoured and grateful to receive the Spirit of Corby award. It’s amazing for us to be recognised by the community for something that has been such a personal challenge. This award isn’t just for us—it’s for everyone who has helped, supported and encouraged us along the way.
Alden: Like Nathan said, totally honoured to have received the award, it's a great feeling to feel like it’s been noticed what we're doing and it makes it feel a little bit more worth it.
How has it been running every day?
Alden: Running every day has been a hell of a challenge, it's been full of ups and downs, and it's mostly been the ups, running while on holiday in 40 degrees heat was really hard.
Nathan: Running every day has been a bit of a rollercoaster. On the whole it’s been enjoyable with a sense of accomplishment, but also days when it has felt like a reoccurring nightmare. It’s definitely taught me resilience and the importance of staying committed to something for the greater good. Knowing it’s all for a good cause has kept us going, even on the harder days.
What has been your hardest challenge over the last 327 days?
Nathan: A few days stand out for me and I’m sure Alden has a couple to add as well. One morning in February it was -6 degrees. One morning in October I had to run at 3am because I needed to be at the airport for 6am. The day Eli was born, had to get the run in at 4am. All tough ones! Oh and today, running with a terrible hangover after winning the award last night. The funny thing is though, I always feels better about myself knowing I’ve done the run for the day.
Alden: I think that the biggest challenge has been running while needing to have the surgery and trying to recover while still running.
Congratulations again to you both and best of luck with the rest of the year!
We would also like to shout out our Mini & Junior Chairman, Mark Williams, who was also nominated for the same award.
