S&L U7s: First Tournament Experience

The S&L U7s stepped onto the pitch for their very first tournament, taking full advantage of the opportunity to test themselves against teams they had not yet faced. Right from the opening whistle, the squad brought infectious energy to the field, treating supporters to some outstanding tries and brilliant collective defensive efforts.

The coaches were incredibly pleased to see the players passing the ball around confidently, which highlights some key developments in their overall gameplay. A special mention goes to their performance against a highly structured Northampton Old Scouts side; our U7s stepped up to the challenge magnificently, demonstrating great focus to grab tags time and time again. A wonderful foundation to build upon for the rest of the season.


S&L U10s: Kettering Tournament (Result: Final Match Draw vs Kettering)

Our U10s showed immense character at the Kettering Tournament this weekend. Facing a grueling schedule of five 12-minute games, the squad stepped up with only nine players available, meaning they had to manage the entire day with just a single substitute.

Coming up against large, well-resourced squads from Oundle and Northampton Old Scouts, the S&L players made the club incredibly proud. They displayed fantastic resilience, giving their all during every minute of play and never taking a backward step. Their hard work and determination paid off in the final fixture against local rivals Kettering—a team they defeated last week. The squad matched their opponents blow for blow to secure a hard-fought draw, proving their fantastic team spirit.

The U11s travelled to the Kettering Tournament ready to work hard, and they delivered exactly that across four highly competitive games. Operating with a compact squad of ten players and only one substitute, the team showcased excellent fitness and a superb work ethic.

The squad executed the fundamentals of the game beautifully. Their rucking was highly effective, and players running with the ball were constantly bolstered by excellent support lines to keep the momentum moving forward. Combined with some textbook tackling and an upbeat attitude that never wavered, it was a proud day of rugby highlighting a brilliant team spirit.


S&L U12s: Kettering Tournament (Result: 3 Wins from 5 Matches)

Subtitle: Three fantastic wins and outstanding leadership guide the U12s to a highly successful tournament outing.

The S&L U12s delivered a stellar performance at the Kettering Tournament, walking away with three superb wins out of their five fixtures. Traveling with a dedicated squad of nine players, the team showed exactly what Corby rugby is all about. They narrowly missed out on a fourth victory by just a single try, showing how competitive they were all afternoon.

The highlight of the day was a triumphant victory over Kettering, showing fantastic adaptability and progress to reverse a loss to the same opposition from the previous week. Captain Braelyn led by example from the front, setting the standard with dominant tackles and superb running lines. Every single player was amazing on the day, resulting in a collective team effort rather than a single Man of the Match award. However, Jenson secured the Parents' Player of the Day honors, scoring two excellent tries and putting in his best performance of the season.
